Sorry I don’t have a scanner so I had to resort to photoboothing it. I’m starting on a larger painting of this for the Sunday Night Drawing Challenge #10
It’s my pet rabbit, Bambi, swimming underwater with le fishes.

i am currently stuck in an artists block; i am getting really frustrated and i can’t think of anything to help. would you kindly offer some advice, and also some keywords to do little sketches?? i would really appreciate it seeing as though i am an avid fan of your work.! :)

Awh, I’m so sorry. Being in a block is so terrible. I wish there was an easy solution to this problem, but sometimes you just have to ride it out. Let it take as long as it needs.

There are a few things you can do to help make it more tolerable, though:

  • You can watch movies. I think that watching a really good movie is inspiring. They distract you enough to keep your mind off of your block and it keeps you creatively entertained.
  • Listening to music. You can listen to your favorite album over and over again or you can go out in search of new tunes. Try to find something that speaks to you.
  • Sometimes it helps to be completely in awe with what other people are doing. I honestly believe that seeing other artist’s work can benefit your situation. I mean, sometimes you can’t help but be a bit envious of what they’re doing and how they’re doing it, but it’s also really comforting to see there is still art and artists out there.
  • Reading! Don’t forget about reading. Curling up with a warm cat and great book is so relaxing. You know, doing anything that makes you happy is helpful. It keeps you from being depressed about being in a block. Don’t force anything and try to relax.

If you’re interested in some drawing exercises or need keywords for practice, you can always check out my Sunday Night Drawing Challenges 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

I wish you the best of luck!
